Topic: The Internet Beyond JewishGen and Steve Morse's Website

Speaker: Ron Arons

Born and raised in New York, Ron has traced his roots to England,
Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania. He has given
presentations at four of the last five IAJGS conferences, to local JGSs,
and to other conferences across the country.
He has published articles in Avotaynu and is currently writing a book
called The Jews of Sing-Sing. To facilitate his work in this area, Ron
won a 2005 research grant >from the New York State Archives.

A veteran of the computer industry, Ron earned degrees >from Princeton
and the University of Chicago.

JewishGen and Steve Morse's website provide the Jewish genealogist with
fantastic tools to help with his/her research. But there is so much
more. Ron's presentation will discuss other "best bet" websites that
allow one to find many other materials online, including historical
documents, newspapers and articles, living people, maps and photos,
foreign language translators and aids, and more. Ron will provide
numerous examples of how the Internet has worked for him.

Q and A Sessions: There will be a 30 minute Question and Answer session
preceding all general meetings.
