Re: Jewish Community of Karvina #austria-czech

Lazy is a mining town (population around 8000 in the 1930's) southwest of
Karvinna (formerly Karvin, German: Karwin, Polish: Karwina) in the Tesin
(German: Teschen, Polish: Cieszyn) region of Silesia near the Czech-Polish
border.
N.B. Karvinna is by no means identical with Frystat (German: Freistadt),
which is a different town in the same region, a bit closer to the border.
Mesto = town
Doly = mines
Karvinna used to be the biggest centre of brown-coal extraction in
Czechoslovakia.
