Most of the area of what is now belarus and is located less then 15 kilometers west of Minsk, was part of Poland between 1921 to 1939. Pinsk, Skidel, and the Grodno area included. They all had to study Polish by state laws even if they went to Jewish schools. The fact that they said they spoke Polish might indicate that they left the area after 1920.
