My aunt has some pictures taken in New York around 1920 of her husband
and his brother as very young boys. They are both in dresses. My
aunt, who admittedly did not get along with her mother-in-law, said
her MIL wanted daughters but only had two sons so she dressed the boys
in girls' clothing.
