A cousin was married in 1951 at a synagogue, which is now a church,
on the corner of Ocean & Newkirk Aves in Brooklyn. She doesn't remember
the name of the synagogue. Per Google Maps, the street address is
apparently 1010 Ocean Ave. The sign in front is blurry but appears
to say "Redemption Gospel Outreach." I entered the address on the
ACRIS database, but nothing matched it. It appeared on the NYC
Property database, building class M1 (church, synagogue), and the
owner's name is that of a private citizen. The account history
goes back to 1995, so it may have become a church at that time.
Does anyone know the name of the synagogue it used to be, any history
of the building, or how to find out more information?
