Re: Genealogy and a Louisville Funeral Home #general

While researching a book on a Louisville-born film director over a
dozen years ago, I visited the non-Jewish funeral home that handled
the burials of his parents in the 1920s. The funeral home was very
gracious and brought out documents that showed the entire details of
the undertaking--even down to how many horses in the procession,
flowers, costs, etc. I have often contacted funeral homes to uncover
details on family--often with positive results. The only downer was a
call to a prominent Jewish funeral chapel in NYC many years ago which
stated they had tossed their old records. Maybe they didn't want to
help me--I'd love to be proven wrong as the records >from this funeral
home would be most valuable.
