Grandfather's name was Harris HANAPOLSKY as far back as I've been able to track. I know enough not to 'assume' that his birth name was Hersch or similar but I'm wondering if any of you had European ancestors with the first name Harris???
In Ancestry.co.uk at the 1901 Censuses as many as 796 men living in England who were born in Russia, and therefore all or most were Jews, had the forename Harris; in Scotland there were 303 and in Wales there were 19.
