Great Synagogue, London #general

Dear Ray,
This synagogue no longer exists, having been bombed during the War,
but it was part of the United Synagogue so I suggest you get in touch
with them and try to get a marriage authorisation record. Here's the

It says that the records available on line go >from 1880, though the
authorisation records started in 1845. So, you should get in touch
with the Archivist - link at the end of the text.

Good luck. The authorisation record that I received told me where
both bride and groom had been born, their fathers' names and the
names of the groom's brothers. All useful stuff.

I'm hoping there might be someone with the time to do a little
research among the Great Synagogue of London files for me.
