Mass Jewish Migration Database #general

Hi Genners

Whilst googling around yesterday I found this database:

http://mjmd.haifa.ac.il/
Hosted by the University of Haifa.=20

It includes records of applications between 1904 and 1914 of over 3,000
applications of Jews who not only applied to one of the information
bureaux in the 'Pale' but also migrated to one of the destination
countries overseas (U.S.A, Argentina, Canada, South Africa and
Palestine). And about 5,000 Jews who migrated to Galveston port under
the shelter of the Jewish Territorialism Organisation (ITO).

I have had a play around with it and found the most effective way to
search is by leaving all the fields blank other than entering the first
three letters of a surname into the surname field.

I looked through the message archive and haven't seen any references to
it so perhaps this is the fisrt time it has been mentioned.

hope it is useful
