I've been trying for many years to identify a family member who most likely
changed or Americanized his surname while living in the Boston area in the early
1900s. I've obtained names of quite a few potentials for the family member in
question, but most records don't pan out as being related, or the trail
disappears completely, suggesting a possible name change.
New information is that a relative named Marvin GORE visited the Boston relatives
almost fifty years ago (1960s), and says, "I think I recall that they owned a
department store, Freddlies or something like that."
