A new District Coordinator for LitvakSIG's Kaunas District Research Group #general

Dorothy Leivers <Dorfleiv@...>

Ralph Salinger has agree to take on the post of district coordinator for
the Kaunas District Research Group of LitvakSIG.

Ralph was born in 1946 in London, England, the only son of German Jewish
Refugees. He grew up in New Zealand and his last position there was as
deputy principal of a grade school. Ralph moved to Israel in 1975 and
is married with 3 adult children. He has 25 years of experience with
genealogy and can trace his family back to Western Poland in 1732.

His interest in Lithuanian Jewish history began about five years ago when
on a personal roots tour he visited Vilkaviskis where some branches of
the Salingers had lived >from 1805 until 1941. His wonderful work in
documenting
the Jewish cemetery there and in Kalvarija can be seen on his website
http://www.jewishvilkaviskis.org/

Ralph is now the village gardener at Kibbutz Kfar Ruppin in Israel so I
am sure he will tend this garden well too!
