Some of my family members who lived in Lithuania (then Poland) in the 1920s and 1930s went to a resort town near Vilnius (then Vilna) for medical/spa treatments. They wrote to relatives in Israel about the town, spelling it with the Hebrew letters Resh Aleph Yod.
