Roots & Heritage Trip #general
Hi
I recently returned >from a 4 week trip to discover my roots. My travels took me to Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Israel and the UK. I'd never been to Central Europe or Turkey before. I travelled independently, not part of any group, as I wanted to connect to my own personal history rather than being on a program like March of the Living which has a defined structure and outcome. I spent considerable time planning and making contact with genealogists, researchers, guides and family who helped make this an amazing and successful adventure. Thank you to all involved. Technology has played a significant role in my travels: I have been running a blog on my trip which can be viewed at: http://elirab.posterous.com Scroll backwards to see the oldest blog which started in Latvia. I am still uploading video clips to my blog. Please feel free to contact me about any reference in my blog to my genealogy or to other related Jewish subjects covered such as synagogues, museums, buildings, researchers and guides or to general travel tips. I am researching the following family names and places: ZELDIN, SELDIN, YONIN, YONIE - Latvia - Riga and Daugavpils HIRSHZON, HIRSHSON, HARRISON, HERISON - Lithuania - Kruk, Krakes, Kovno ZOREF, SALOMON - Lithuania - Kedainiai SKARASJEWSKI, SZERESZEWSKI, SKORISHEVSKI,RISHELEVSKI, RYSZELEWSKA, RYSHELEVSKI - Poland - Orla (near Bialystok) REITSTEIN, ROTSZTEJN, BLASZKA, BLASHKER - Poland - Nasielsk Thank you Eli Rabinowitz Perth, Australia eli@... |
