If this is Hebrew, it means "lioness". I'm certain on this, as my last name is
LAVIE, which means "lion". I find it difficult to believe that this was a Hebrew
word, as the name is a modern Israeli name, rarely used. On the other hand, I
believe that the Yiddish rendering of "v" (as in Livia) would use the double-vav
ligature instead of a bet (vet).

I found the first and second name Sarah Lvyah [Bat R' Binymin] on a tombstone, and I
am not previously familiar with the second given name: Lamed-Beit-Yud-Alef-Hei.
