I found on the Boston 1900 census that my husband's g grandparents, Bertha
(KANTER) and Moses COHEN had a daughter Rosa (COHEN) SILVERSTEIN, who was a
widow, and her son Ali age 3 living with them at 5 Oswego St. I did
research and found that Rosa married Louis SILVERSTEIN in Boston, MA on
Oct. 25, 1889. On the marriage document it listed Louis' parents as Moses
and Annie. I have found the following children for Rosa and Louis:
Annie Silverstein born 2/15/1892 in Boston
Harris Silverstein born 12/29/1893 in Boston
Sarah/ Sadie Silverstein born 12/31/1895 in Boston
Ali>Alex>Ellis Silverstein born 7/1897 Boston
Louis SILVERSTEIN was born 1867 in Russia and died on or before 1900. I
have no information on his death. Rosa was born 1864 in Russia and died
1903 in Boston. She is buried in Montvale Cemetery, Woburn, MA. Rosa's
parent had Rosa buried under the name of Rosa COHEN SILBERSTEIN.
I found Sarah and Annie SILVERSTEIN in the 1900 census living in the Leopold
Morse Orphanage in Milton, MA.
Moses Cohen died in 1906 and Bertha Cohen died in 1907. They are both
buried in the same cemetery as Rosa in Woburn, MA.
On the 1910 census, I found Sadie and Ellis Silverstein living at the
Leopold Morse Orphanage. I found Annie listed as a lodger, stenographer in
Boston. I discovered a World War 1 draft card (1918) for Ellis SILVERSTEIN
born 7/1897 in Boston. He stated he was living with a Mrs. Annie BLOOM at 3
Wales St. Boston.
I have been unable to find additional information on Louis SILVERSTEIN or
his children. I have not been able to determine who Annie BLOOM is... was
she Ellis' sister or another relative.
