I am trying to determine where my husband's maternal grandmother and grandfather married:
Ethel (Etka) ABRAMS/ABRAMOVICH to Harry (Meyer Hirsh) MAYERS/SHNEIDERMAN
I have a photograph of Ethel and Harry at Ethel's sister's wedding (Clara ABRAMS/ABRAMOVICH to Joe/Joseph GOLD/GOLSTEIN) at Hambro Synagogue London Oct 1905 - the ABRAMS children moved >from Rokiskis/Radute Lithuania to live in Mile End UK (when???)
Ethel and Harry's first child Rica was born in Johannesburg South Africa May 11 1906 so I have made the assumption that Ethel and Harry were married prior to Oct 1905 - I believe they were living in London at that time.
Any suggestions/ideas on where I can look further for the marriage between Ethel and Harry and their immigration to South Africa - Harry's name presents an added problem in that in South Africa he was known as Harry MAYERS perhaps derived >from his first name Mayer Hirsh but when that change happened or whether it was a formal change of name is unknown. Harry's siblings all use a variation of the name SHNEIDERMAN, SHNEIDER, SNYDER - none around to discuss.
