Yishayahu in Hebrew is normally translated to Isaiah in English. In eastern
European Yiddish, Yishayahu was commonly something like Shaya. To create an
English language name >from Shaya, one would look for a name beginning with
"S", Samuel being the most common of those. Especially if one were searching
for a name that did not sound too "Old Testament".
