The name Yekutiel/Yekusiel is often shortened to "Kusiel" (rhymes with

"Kissel" sounds wrong to me. Perhaps it is the result of an incorrect
transliteration of Hebrew letters, where a vav was mistakenly read as a yod.
Pronouncing the nickname Kusiel as "Kissel" seems to me pretty characteristic
of the dialect of Yiddish spoken in Galicia, where kugel is called "kigel" and
the Sukkot holiday is pronounced "Sikkis". In this area, the Hebrew name
Joshua was often rendered in Yiddish as the nickname "Shiya".
