Jewish POWs of the Japanese in the Second World War #general

Martin Sugarman ( Hon. archivist of AJEX) has authored:
Under the Heel of Bushido. Last Voices of the Jewish POWs of the
Japanese in the Second World War

He details the story of the ordeal of Jewish POWs of the Japanese,
there is a Record of Honour of Jewish POWs and first-hand accounts
and original photographs, not previously published. The book contains
dozens of accounts of the experiences of Jewish prisoners of war and
internees >from Commonwealth and Dutch forces during the Second World
War.

The book is a tribute to the Jewish prisoners, whose experiences have
been virtually ignored until now. Veterans interviewed by the author
gave painful testimonies which are only a small number of the total
Jewish involvement, as many of the 550 or so Jewish prisoners of war
who survived their ordeal passed away before they could tell their
stories.

There was a particular Jewish participation and encounter with the
Japanese, and this book deserves to be widely read.
