[US] Interim Rule for Certification to Access to the Death Master File Posted In Federal Register #general

Jan Meisels Allen

If you want to have continued access to the Death Master File you need to
file the certification form today- March 26, 2014. For those who are not
certified under the Department of Commerce rules access the Death Master
File (DMF), commercially known as the Social Security Death Index (SSDI)
access will be limited to those whose date of death is at three years or
more. More information including the form may be accessed at:
http://www.ntis.gov/products/ssa-dmf.aspx . There is a $200 processing
fee.

As I noted in the March 23 posting on this discussion list the proposed
rules were expected this week. The proposed interim rules for certification
to access to the Death Master File has been published in the Federal
Register. There is a 30 day comment period --all comments must be received
no later than April 25, 2014 5 PM Eastern Time. To read the proposed interim
rules go to: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-03-26/pdf/2014-06701.pdf

Comments may be submitted to the National Technical Information Service
