First name "Pye" for a woman #general

Jake Jacobs

My g'grandfather's marriage record, >from NYC, identifies his mother's
first name as "Pye." It is very clearly written.  She has been
identified in other records as Phillis and Fannie. We do not know
where she was born or where she lived before coming to the U.S. around
1865, but her son (my g'grandfather) was born either in Posen, Poland
or Suwalki, Lithuania. I know, many hundreds of miles apart.
Nonetheless, both cities were identified in different records as
birthplaces.

Can we tell anything at all >from the name "Pye"?

thanks for your help, as always,
