(US) Virginia Governor Announces Successful Launch of DMV/VDH Vital Records Partnership #general

Jan Meisels Allen

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced earlier this week the launch of
the partnership between the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and
the Virginia Department of Health Division (VDH) of Vital Records for
providing easier access to birth records. As of March 1, 2014 copies of
Virginia birth certificates are available at any of the 75 statewide DMV
service centers and 5 mobile offices.

The process at the DMV is the same as if a person goes directly through the
Division of Vital Records - complete an application, submit the required
documentation and pat the $14 fee to the DMV.

This new partnership was authorized by legislation in 2013 (SB 1039). On
January 1, 2015 the DMV will also begin issuing copies of death, marriage
and divorce records.
