I am trying to establish a relationship between my husband's family and various people whose photos we have. I know who these people belong to in the US but am totally confused as to why my mother in law's family held these photos.
The photos are of a Zelda Kaplan with the writing on the back saying Aunt Zelda Kaplan and various baby photos and one of Gussie Levine Saltzmann. I have found out that Gussie was born Levine but her father died and her mother married a Saltzmann who was a widower. There is no record of her mother's maiden name nor a record of her father's death (could be Israel or Isaac Levine) which is said to have been a railway accident before the turn of the 20th century. The family lived in Pennsylvania.
Gussie married a William Krelitz and two of the photos are of two of her daughters, Janis and Leona.
If anyone can point me in the direction of finding the connection to this family I would be grateful. The name most likely to be related is TOFF but it could be MARK or NAYMARK (with its varied spelling) - the photos were found with one of Rosie Toff, wife of Barnett Toff who migrated to Manchester England about 1890 from Lithuania - where in Lithuania I have no idea as TOFF is not found on most databases on Jewishgen.
