David W. Perle
Hey, all. You've got to love how one little nugget leads you to another
to another. A fellow Genner found for me a quick item in the New York Times
after my great-grandfather William D. PERLE died on 1/7/57, >from this
synagogue. I just Googled it and found a 1927 directory of American
synagogues, listing officers with each one, and...this one has listed as its
secretary an A. PERLE. Might this synagogue have had a woman in that
position in 1927? (I see that "bruder verein" translates to "fraternal
club," but I see this listed as Kalischer Brueder Verein Congregation.)
It's possible that it was an unrelated Perle, but it's looking to me like
this was William's daughter--my great-aunt--Anna Perle.
So now I am naturally interested in learning a bit more about this
synagogue. :) Does anyone have any insight, and/or know where there might be
any archives of its officers and/or members, etc.?
