My grandfather Shabtai DAWIDOWICZ migrated >from Wielun Western Poland to
Manchester in about 1901. He was listed in the 1901 U.K. census on Dow St.,
Salford, working as a "waterproofer's assistant" -[-raincoat manufacturer]
He roomed with a gentile couple one street away >from his Moskowicz cousins,
with whom he may have taken his meals. In 1902, under his new name Stefan
BENNETT, he immigrated to New York.
I'm searching for more information about Stefan Bennett, the Polish Jewish
garment workers in Salford, the social organizations, etc.
Any advice will be appreciated.
