(US) National Historical Publications and Records Commission #general

Jan Meisels Allen

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) promotes
the preservation and use of America's documentary heritage. Since 1964 over 4,200
grants have been awarded to state and local archives, colleges and universities,
libraries and historical societies, and other non-profit organizations. It is part
of the (US) National Archives and Records Administration. To read more about the
NHPRC see: http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/projects/

There are many genealogically-funded past projects which can be viewed at:
http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/projects/states-territories/. These include some of
special interest to us as past awards went to the Center for Jewish History,
Jewish Theological Seminary, American Sephardi Federation, plus others. The details
of their awards can be found on this website under the state of NY as the awards
are listed by state.

There may be an issue about the NHPRC's continued existence. To learn more
