Re: GALLER surname originally from Pomerania area in Poland #general

Dear Angie:
Help us help you! How did you discover that your family was Jewish? What
points toward Pomerania?

Menk's _Dictionary of German Jewish Surnames_ doesn't include GALLER,
nor have I encountered the surname, nor is it on the Pomeranian or other
Prussian surname-adoption lists. (GELLER is very rare too among German
Jews.)

But JRI-Poland shows that there were GALLERs in Galicia, and a few in
Congress Poland as well.

Hello, I am currently in Warsaw, Poland. I am driving to
Darlowo and Gdansk in the next few days. I am trying to find
relatives. My father's great great grandfather was Daniel
Gottlieb GALLER. His father was Hermann Galler. Daniel
married Wilhelmina. We recently discovered that we have
Jewish ancestry. We always thought we were Germans, but now
know that we are German Jews. Some of our relatives died at
Auschwitz. I would very much like to connect with family here
in Poland. I am also going to Potsdam in Germany, but I
believe my true relatives live in the area of Pomerania. At
least they did in the 1800's before coming to the U.S. Please
help me if you have any information. Thank you.
