Correction: (Australia) Sydney Morning Herald Indexes Death Notices From 1831-2015 #general

Jan Meisels Allen

It has come to my attention that in my October 19 posting I misinterpreted
who did the work for the 17 years of indexing of death, funeral, probate
and full obituary notices >from any Australian newspapers. In error, I
credited The Sydney Morning Herald. In reality, the indexing was done by
volunteers. The project was started by the Sydney Dead Poets Society, and
completed by a small group of volunteers.

Volunteers should always get their rightful recognition and therefore, I
apologize for my misunderstanding and bravo to the Sydney Dead Poets Society
and the volunteers!

Thank you to Robyn Dryen, president of the Australian Jewish Genealogical
Society (Sydney) for correctly advising me about having the volunteers
receive the credit they deserve.

Every death notice in the Sydney Morning Herald 1831-2015 has now been
indexed and can be searched for free at:

If you have passed along or posted my original Alert it would be appreciated
if you would pass along and update and posting to reflect the appropriate
credit to the volunteers.
