JGS of Illinois Jan. 31, 2016, meeting announcement change of plans #general
Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois Networking Meeting
The Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois motto is 'Members helping
members since 1981.' On that note, the Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, meeting of
the JGSI will be an open meeting devoted to a variety of genealogical
research opportunities. The meeting will take place >from 12:30 to 3:30
p.m. at Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook, Ill.
Walter Reed, a Holocaust lecturer and writer who had been a hidden
child, was originally scheduled to be the speaker at the Jan. 31
meeting, but he passed away on Jan. 13.
We are saddened by his death. In his memory, we will make progress on
our research at an open networking meeting. JGSI members and guests are
invited to bring their genealogical research goals and queries, notes
and computers to be ready to do research among friends. Our volunteers
will be available at the JGSI help desk and library.
The JGSI meeting facilities at Temple Beth-El will open at 12:30 p.m.
for those who want to use or borrow genealogy library materials, get
help with genealogy websites or ask genealogical questions.
At the JGSI help desk, member volunteers will access online databases
and answer genealogical questions one-on-one for members and visitors.
The JGSI library has more than 800 volumes of interest to Jewish family
historians. Many are available for borrowing by JGSI members for a
limited time. All are available for perusing during this special
