Re: Vilna Gubernia Records: 1876-1910 #general
Since you note that the record of interest comes >from the town of Lida,
let's look at what is available for Lida town and the other towns in the
Lida District and how/where you can find them:
The vast majority of records for towns in the Lida District -- Belitsy,
Eisiskes, Lida, Novy Dwor, Orlya, Ostryna, Radun, Rozhanka,
Shchuchin, Vasilishki, Voronovo and Zheludok -- are held in the
Lithuanian State Historical Archive in Vilnius and have been translated
under the aegis of the LitvakSIG Lida District Research Group. Many
are already publicly searchable in the All Lithuania Database.
Recently translated records (i.e., the 1850 Revision List) are accessible
only to participants in the LitvakSIG Lida District Research Group, whose
qualifying contributions have helped cover the cost of the translations.
Surname lists for all the translated Lida District records may be found
on our site at https://lidadistrict.shutterfly.com on the homepage
under Surname Lists.
Some birth, marriage and death records for towns in the Lida District
are held in the Grodno Archives, and most have been translated through
the LitvakSIG Lida District Research Group and eventually will be
searchable in the LitvakAll Lithuania Database and JewishGen Belarus Database.
However, the birth, marriage and death records for the town of Lida
for 1896-1914 were translated a number of years ago by Belarus SIG
and these can be searched in the JewishGen Belarus Database.
If anyone has any questions about records for towns in the Lida
District, or about how to become part of the LitvakSIG Lida District Research
Group, please write me privately at JRBaston@aol.com
