Cinoman Family Philadelphia #general

Ann Scher

I have been trying to sort out a mystery related to someone I am certain
is my ancestor (Mary / Miriam SCHER) who was married to Jacob CINOMAN. They lived
in Philadelphia. She (and possibly he) are >from Lithuania, born around 1865.

The question is why Jacob's wife is listed variously as Mary (1893,
1910) and as Rebecca (1900, 1920). Are they the same person or two people?

Record of stillborn child, parents Mary and Jacob Cinamon (1893)
from 1900 census: Jacob & Beckie Zinonnam (children Bessie, Rachel, Sam, Ida,
Annie, Harry)
from 1910 census: Jacob & Mary Cimmser (children Bessie, Ray, Samuel, Ida, Anna,
Harry)
from 1920 census: Jacob & Becca Zimmerman (children Harry Ida) In various SSN
records for the children, their mother is listed as Rebecca Jacobs, Rebecca
Benjamin, Miriam Scher

Is it possible that Mary and Rebecca are the same person, but if so why
would the children list such different names for their mother?

Any suggestions for how to sort this out would be greatly appreciated.
