In connection my question with the "occupations" I see no need to
detail the example I mentioned:
Zalman Geller, married in 1859, his marriage record he is "laborer"
In 1861 a child is born, the father birth record he is "szpektor"
(supervisor?) In 1864 he had another child. Birth records father he is
"belfer" (teacher) In 1868 he had another child, and this time he again
"szpektor" (supervisor?) What is the explanation?
Both jobs are [nearly?] the same:

Szpektor = teacher's assistant

Belfer = assistant melamed in cheder
[= assistent to the teacher in the schoolroom]
