Tracing David ROSEN #general

Paul Silverstone

I am writing because David ROSEN is a common name.

The David Rosen I am looking for I have traced up to 1930 and perhaps
1940. He was born on 4 March 1899 in Winnipeg, son of Abraham Rosen and
Clara Ives. His brother Al Rosen was manager of Loews State Theatre in
Times Square and later was a Broadway producer and associated with Mae
West. All the siblings were connected with show business.

In 1910 they were in Minneapolis, but the following year were in Port
Arthur, Ontario. He registered for the draft in 1917 in Minneapolis.

I believe he could be the David Rosen in the 1930 census living at 1240
Walton Ave, Bronx, NY, theater manager.

In 1940 there is a David Rosen, theater manager, living at 235 Seaman
Avenue, Bronx.

I remember meeting him in the late 1940s with his wife and two young
sons. They were living on West End Avenue, in the 90s, in Manhattan. I
am trying to find the names of his children and wife, and anything more
in the later period.

When his brother Matty died in 1948, David is not listed among his
survivors.
