Here's a genealogical relic made possible by the Red Scare. If your
family lived in New York City circa 1939-1940, you can check to see if
any of them signed any petitions that supported the communist party,
causes, or candidates in local or state elections.
You can use the "search inside this book" feature on the left side to
look up names or addresses (works fairly well, but misses some names),
or just scroll through the pages, which are thankfully listed
alphabetically by surname.
