I am researching the family of Morris and Sarah Abramowitz who lived on Eldridge
Street in the early 1900s with their ten children: Annie, Joseph, Rosie, Jacob,
Hyman, Samuel, Fanny, Lizzie, Harry, and Simon.
While for several of these children, I have unearthed a good deal of information
(including birth, marriage, and death records) for four of them I can find very
little other than a mention in a census
I would, as always, appreciate your input and suggestions to try to find further
additional information about:
(1) Jacob Abramowitz, born in "Russia" between 1890 and 1891, who was 15 on the
1905 NY Census and 19 on the 1910 US Census
(2) Hyman Abramowitz, born in "Russia" about 1895, who was 11 on the 1905 NY Census
and 15 on the 1910 US Census
(3) Harry Abramowitz, born about 1904 in NYC, who was a few months old on the 1905
NY State Census, 6 on the 1910 US Census, 17 on the 1920 US Census, and
mystifyingly 18 on the 1930 US Census.
(4) Simon Abramowitz, born Jan 5, 1906 in NYC, who shows up on as Sam (4) on the
1910 US Census. Simon (15) on 1920 US Census, and Sam (20) on the 1930 US Census.
The only other sighting for him is in the Social Security Death Index as passing
away October 1973.
