I am currently researching the family of my 2nd ggf Jacob (Jankel) Jacobson
(ca. 1860-1924). His father's name was Nissan. Oral family history says that
he came >from Dvinsk/Dinenburg. He married my great-great-grandmother Jennie
(Freyde) Levin around 1881. She was >from Zarasai.
On their passenger list to the United States, they and their children listed
their last origin as "Kovno." They left >from Swinemunde and arrived in New
York, but lived in Philadelphia. There is no trace of them in departure
records. Likewise, because they came in 1891, there is no specific town
information in official American records.
I can find nothing in the online European records for Jacob Jacobson. I have
seen some records that may indicate a Jacobson connection to Bauska or
Aizpute. Does anyone have any knowledge of or relationship to Jacobson
families who migrated >from Latvia to Lithuania between the 1860s and 1880s?
