Shlioma Yankel Gorosh was born in 1880 in Latvia. He lived with his parents
and siblings in Rezhitza (now Rezekne), Latvia.
On July 15, 1902, Shlioma and his wife, Genesa, arrived in New York on the
Vaderland, which originated in Antwerp, Belgium. The manifest stated that
they were going to brother in law? Berl Brucker. Berl was crossed through
and Ike Kahn was listed instead. Both Berl (Berke/Bernard) and Ike were
married to sisters of Shlioma's mother.
I have tried, with no success, to find Shlioma and his wife beyond the ship
manifest. Since I don't know what first name he adopted in the U.S. I
searched on his surname, Gorosh, and variations of the name. Any help or
suggestions would be welcome.
