Genealogist Lara Diamond to speak in Fort Wayne about DNA #general
The Northeast Indiana Jewish Genealogy Society is proud to host genealogist,
Lara Diamond, for two DNA and Genealogy presentations on Sunday, February 17
at 2:00 p.m. at the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center in Fort
Wayne, Indiana. A professional genealogist with expertise in DNA and
Eastern European Jewish roots, Ms. Diamond lectures frequently and blogs at
At 2:00 on February 17, she will present "DNA 101: How to Use Genetic
Testing for Genealogical Research." Following that presentation, at 3:30,
Ms. Diamond will continue with "Sorting Distant Cousins >from Close Family,"
including the challenges of endogamous populations such as Ashkenazi Jews.
The program is made possible with funding >from the Dr. Harry W. Salon
Foundation. Members of the NEIJGS will have an opportunity to meet further
with Lara Diamond at a special dinner that evening.
The Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center houses one of the largest
research collections available to genealogists, incorporating records from
around the world. Visitors are welcome to take advantage of the long
weekend to visit the collection. Library hours are 9am to 6pm on Friday and
Saturday, noon to 5pm on Sunday, and 9am to 9pm on Monday.
