The February 12, 2019 meeting of the Phoenix Jewish Genealogy Group will be
held >from 6:30-8:30 PM in the cottage at the Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage
Center/Arizona Jewish Historical Society, 122 E. Culver Street, Phoenix, AZ.

Dr. Janette Silverman of Ancestry ProGenealogists will present, "Challenges
of Jewish Genealogy: Names, Dates and Places."

Your Eastern European Jewish ancestors probably did not arrive in the US
with the name Smith or Roberts, but how do you know what their names were?
They told you they came >from a place that doesn't show up on any map, and
their age is different in every record you look at! Why were they so
mysterious and how can the information be clarified so we can get to the
bottom of it? During this talk, Silverman will explore several different
examples of confusion resulting >from these challenges, and provide some
strategies to resolve conflicting information and finding out what our
ancestor's names were, where they came >from and when they were born.

The meeting is free and open to all.
