Mormon Church Renames it Websites, Social Media Accounts and Employee Email Addresses Effective March 5 #general

As many of us use the local family history libraries to do research this may
be of interest.

The Mormon Church announced it would rename websites, social media accounts
and employee email addresses to get rid of "Mormon" and "LDS" as their
Church continues to push to be known by the religion's full name and not the
"shorthand" it previously embraced.

Church employee emails that ended with @ldschurch.org will now end with
@ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The faith and church websites and social media
accounts in other languages will be changed in the coming months.

The faith now says Mormon, Mormonism and LDS are not acceptable.

In October, the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir was renamed the
Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

At this time there is no mention of changing the emails or websites of those
with FamilySearch in the name. I have spoken with at least one FamilySearch
director said they have not heard of their emails or websites yet to be
changed. For those who have their local Family History Centers on their
society websites, it does not appear that the names for the addresses need
to be changed as yet.
