Yom Hashoah is commemorated in Israel and the United States on May 2, 2019
(begins at sundown on May 1). Yom Hashoah or Holocaust Memorial Day is
commemorated for the six million Jews and five million others who perished
in the Holocaust. In Israel, it is a national memorial day and public
holiday. Yom Hashoah was inaugurated on 1953, by a law signed by the Prime
Minister of Israel David Ben-Gurion and the President of Israel Yitzhak
Ben-Zvi. It is held on the 27th of Nisan (April/May), unless the 27th would
be adjacent to Shabbat, in which case the date is shifted by a day.

May 1 the Discovery Channel will air Liberation Heroes: The Last
Eyewitnesses. In the Discovery Channel press release the times for the May 1
showing are: at 7pm ET/4pm PT. Please check your local stations for your
station and when this documentary will air in your area.

The film draws on a collection of 55,000 testimonies of survivors and
witnesses to the Holocaust and other genocidal events that is part of USC
Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive. Many of the interviews were
recorded since 1994 with the organization established by Steven Spielberg
after his experiences filming Schindler's List. One person featured is Alan
Moskin who served in Patton's Third Army and helped to liberate Mauthausen.

Use the time for airing >from the above cited sources >from the Discovery
Channel and PBS and check your local
stations, not >from the JTA article as they are different for at least one
of the airings.

I do not know if The Liberation Heroes: The Last Eyewitnesses nor the Last
Survivors will air outside the United States or if they do when that will
occur.
