Shanghai Jews Exhibit at Brooklyn Public Library #general

Jan Meisels Allen

A number of Jews fleeing Nazi Europe were able to get to Shanghai China-at
the time that was the last place that would accept Jewish refugees. There
were 18,000 such Jews in Shanghai-living in cramped quarters but with
schools, cultural institutions and a social life.

The Brooklyn Public Library has an exhibit, "Jewish Refugees in Shanghai"
through May 10.
