Records of a divorce within the Jewish community of Hamburg in the 1790s #general

My 4th gr.-grandfather, Michel HERSCHEL (aka Meyer Michel HERSCHEL)
was born and lived his entire life in Hamburg. He apparently married
Rane HERSCHEL (possibly a cousin) on an unknown date, although I have
found no marriage record. They had five children between 1790 and
1798.
But in 1800 my 3rd gr.-grandfather, Bernhard Passach HERSCHEL was born
in Hamburg to Michel HERSCHEL and his then wife, Louise WOLFF
(daughter of a prominent Jewish banker in Halle an der Saale).
Although Loiuse WOLFF is described as his wife, I have found no
marriage record. Moreover, Rane HERSCHEL was still alive and lived in
Hamburg until 1839.
The straightforward possibility is that Michel divorced Rane before
1800. If so, what records would one expect to find in the Jewish
communities of Hamburg and nearby Altona?
The second marriage, if there was one, is unrecorded in Hamburg. If
it took place in Halle an der Saale, where would one be likely to find
records of it?
