Dear Fellow Poland researchers:
Today is the first day of life on the Jewish Records Indexing - Poland
project without Steve ZEDECK as the webmaster. I wrote Steve a personal
thank you yesterday, but wanted to share with my friends how inspirational
and great it has been to have Steve as a "hand-holding" webmaster all these
Not only was creating the database his original idea, but his accessibility
and responsiveness to all JRI-Poland users has helped build the strong family
of researchers that we now are. People helping people is what this whole
project is about, and Steve should take great pride not only in the great
website, but in the great friendships that we've woven through the project.
With Steve in the designer's seat, we've shared great achievements. I think
my Lublin submissions put us over the 100,000 record mark a good couple of
years ago, and today the JRI-Poland database can boast over 1.5 million
records! It couldn't have been done without a great website and friendly,
responsive communications between volunteers.
So, my hat goes off to Steve for all his help and guidance. He's asked for a
well-deserved rest, but I know that he expects us to continue the work!
So, hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go ... but we'll miss him!
With love and affection,
Robinn Magid, Kensington, California
