Dear Fellow Researchers,

I am happy to announce that 1,639 new indices to non-microfilmed Jewish
vital records of OZORKOW are pending addition to the JRI-Poland
database. Some 19th century and first two years of the 20th century
Jewish vital records of this town have been indexed by the JRI-Poland
team in Warsaw as part of the JRI-Poland / Polish State Archives (PSA)
Project.

Ozorkow is located 20 miles / 32 kilometers NW of Lodz.

Some of the towns located close to Ozorkow are:
Lodz, Aleksandrow Lodzki, Piatek, Zgierz, Leczycz, Kutno, Strykow.

o Summary of New Indices to Ozorkow Records

The types and years of records are as follows:
Marriages: 1844-55, 1888-1889
Deaths: 1887-90, 1897-1902

o Surnames Found in the New Indices

Surnames found in the Ozorkow indices, can be viewed on
<http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/psa/ozorkow_surn.htm>

o The Lodz JRI-Poland / Polish State Archives Project

Indexes to non-microfilmed 19th century Ozorkow Jewish records housed in
the Lodz Archives are being indexed for addition to the JRI-Poland
database under an agreement between JRI-Poland and the Polish State
Archives (PSA). For information about the PSA project see:
http://www.jewishgen.org/JRI-PL/psa/psastat.htm

This new material will finally allow you to expand your research into a
time period or geographical area that has been elusive and beyond your
reach. Once these indexes are available, you may simply print out an
order form >from the Jewish Records Indexing-Poland web site and order
the records >from the Polish State Archives.

The budget for indexing the Ozorkow records is $US210. Whatever you can
contribute will be very much appreciated and will help bring us closer
to our goal.

All individuals (or families) who are able to contribute $36 or more to
this effort are qualified to receive the complete database as an Excel
file for your personal research.

Not only will this enable you to see the information well in advance of
its general availability in the JRI-Poland Searchable Database, it will
enable you to look at all the records >from Ozorkow at once, and perhaps
find a family name whose connection you had forgotten, or to work with
the data (for example, sorting by first name) to search for a
great-grandmother's elusive maiden name.

Please join in making a contribution to this extremely worthwhile and
exciting project. Your contribution towards the indexing of records for
Ozorkow can bring to light information you may have never imagined you
would find.
