Re: Surnames are Separated by a "V" #poland

The "v" between surnames or given names in the JRI-Poland database is an
abbreviation of the Latin "vel," which translates best to Also Known As
(AKA).

In my experience with Galician records, vel used between surnames
usually records both the mother's and father's surnames. Vel used
between given names usually records a Jewish and secular name.

What does it mean when two or more surnames are separated by a "v" in
a
database search?
