Dr. Harry Lew, an Ophthalmologist >from Australia, is the author of "The
Stories Our Parents Found too Painful to Tell," a translation of the Yiddish-language Yizkor Book "The Annihilation of Bialystok Jewry" written by Bialystok survivor Rafael Rajzner. Dr. Lew will be in Northern New Jersey on Tuesday, November 23 at 7 pm to discuss his book and how he brought the book to life. The talk will be at the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus, 901 Route 10, Whippany, NJ and is sponsored by the Holocaust Council of MetroWest. Dr. Lew will be introduced by Professor Rebecca Kobrin, author of the recently published book, "Jewish Bialystok and its Diaspora." Rebecca Kobrin is the Russell and Bettina Knapp Assistant Professor of American Jewish History at Columbia University. She was a speaker at the 2009 IAJGS Conference on Jewish Genealogy in Philadelphia and has spoken at a number of Jewish Genealogical Societies about Landsmanschaften and their connections to the old country.
