Kishinev Jewish Cemetery news #bessarabia

Dear researchers,
I am writing about Jewish Cemetery in Kishinev, the largest remaining Jewish cemetery in Bessarabia/Moldova. You remember the story that the Prime Minister of Moldova "...demanded a plan to restore the Jewish cemetery in Kishinev". The cemetery was cleaned up in the fall of 2018, and you can see >from a photo how large is the cemetery, and as people on the ground are saying, it was cleaned up. Aerial view: http://www.jewishgen.org/bessarabia/files/cemetery/Kishinev/Damage2019/Kishi nevJewishCemeteryFeb19-2019.jpg Here are the other news - the work was done formally, in a rush and many tombstones were damaged!!! Here are couple of photos with recently damaged tombstones: http://www.jewishgen.org/bessarabia/files/cemetery/Kishinev/Damage2019/Kishi nevJewishCemeteryFeb20-2019-2.jpg http://www.jewishgen.org/bessarabia/files/cemetery/Kishinev/Damage2019/Kishi nevJewishCemeteryFeb20-2019-3.jpg Now, I am getting information that there will not going to be construction of a new building at the cemetery (museum or so), but there is going to be build a memorial probably to the victims of the Holocaust... A number of people working for JewishGen Bessarabia SIG are photographing the tombstones at this cemetery. One of them is Sergei Daniliuk who made these photos. I may put more online for your view.
