Hello, listers! Following Andrew Cassel's suggestion to new subscribers =
to introduce themselves and tell about their connection with Keidan, I =
must say mine is just an early hunch, so far! I came across two of the =
rare mentions in the net of the POKROISKY surname I started to research. =
Both are associated to Keidan .

My name is Carlos GLIKSON, >from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am just =
starting research on my ancestors of the POKROISKY / HOLLANDERSKY line. =
I have no formal records yet about them. My father, Abraham GLIKSON was =
born in MARIJAMPOLE / MARIAMPOL in 1907, and lived in SUWALKI. His =
parents were Naftali GLIKSON, of AUGUSTOW, and Paulina POKROISKY. =
Paulina's father was Chonel POKROISKY, born 185? . Both Paulina and =
Chonel were born probably in SEREI /SEREIJE / SEIRIJAI. Paulina's mother =
was Leah HOLLANDERSKY. Paulina's siblings that emmigrated to the States =
adopted the HOLLANDER surname.

I saw a mail by Trevor POGROSKE - Subject: Re: Museum and Regina =
Kopilevich's trip - stating "Our family name in Keidan was POKROISKY". =
There is information on a web page by Arthur Cassel on the Keidan Jewish =
cemetery, with the names recorded by researcher Ada Greenblatt with =
Regina Kopilevich as guide. It mentions the tombstone of Moshe ben =
Avraham Aron POKROISKY, d. 1937 .

North of Keidan is PAKRUOJIS. A reference in the web mentioned "My =
family comes >from Lithuania >from a shtetel called POKROY {in Lithuanian =
PAKRUOJIS}". I always wondered about where the POKROISKY surname came =
from. A far g-aunt in France shortened POKROISKY to POKROY. So now I am =
looking North East of Marijampole, North of Serei, in Keidan's and also =
Pakruojis' direction before obtaining any formal records to support my =
search.

Trevor, does anything of what I mention sound familiar?=20

To all, and Trevor in particular: Any suggestions or references to the =
POKROISKY ( and POGROSKE) surname will be most appreciated. I can share =
the scarce information I have on my POKROISKY ancestors so far. Thank =
you very much
