Re: Research #germany

It would appear that many members of the newsgroup do not take
advantage of the information on the Latvia SIG webpage.
Roger -If you click on Starting your research and also click
Contacting the Archives you will find the information you require
to get started with your research.

You can read and follow links on the Courland Research Group page
as Jekabpils (previously Jakobstatdt) was in Courland.
www.jewishgen.org/Courland

You can search the All Latvia Database by filling in the name in
the search box at the bottom of the page and then clicking on the
buttons that come up on the next page if you have any hits.
www.jewishgen.org/databases/Latvia

For example there is a Sara Rivke Schlossberg >from Jekabpils in the
Riga Passport registration database and there are 72 hits in the Riga
Tax administration list etc.

I would imagine that if you request a search >from the Archivists at
the Latvian State Historical Archives and give as many names and dates
as you have that you will get a very positive result. Your family has
lived there a long time and so there should be records.

I am interested in finding information about the SCHLOSSBERG
family >from Jacobpils and Illukste. They lived there during
the entire 19th century up through about 1920.
